DAVID (STRETCH) MATHIESON

General Manager

Stretch’s drilling industry experience began with Drillex in 1994 as a drill rig fitter.

From that position Stretch worked through the ranks until his appointment as Maintenance Manager (for Drillex and subsequently Ausdrill Northwest) in 2001, where he remained until 2006. He then moved to offshore work with Gas Services International, working on drill platforms in the Gulf of Thailand and the Middle East.

During his time at Drillex, Stretch was exposed to both national and international drilling operational experience, through the company’s operations in Indonesia and West Africa. This experience in international drilling operations made him ideally suited for the position of Maintenance & Operations Manager – West African operations for SBDG, a position he held for three years,  from 2007 to 2010. Stretch was based at the Simandou project in Guinea, West Africa, and managed all SBDG’s operations during this time.

In June 2010, Stretch moved back to WA to take up the position of General Manager for SBD Drilling.
